The idea of setting "Hamlet" in Kronberg Castle came from the Danish State Tourist Board

Opened: June, 1937 (opening night performed at the Marienlist Hotel due to rain)

Cast: Laurence Olivier (Hamlet), Vivien Leigh (Ophelia), Anthony Quayle (Laertes, brother of Ophelia), Alec Guinness (Osric) and others

Other information

Eleven years later (in 1948), Laurence Olivier filmed "Hamlet" without Vivien Leigh. Jean Simmons played Ophelia.
